Today's Text for J.W.'s

We can't even count on the angels to help us out because they have to keep Jehovah's chariot detailed. Oh but god has given us weapons to defeat this lion. We only have to wave the Watchtower and Awake magazines in his face to make him cower.

Return of the Dub (plus surprise guest)
by TerryWalstrom inreturn of the dub (plus surprise guest)dealing with just one frisky, bright-eyed jehovah’s witness is a handful.one on one is manageable.
two jw’s is more like juggling chainsaws or french kissing alligators.i had a return visit the other day and now, the jw was returning the 2nd time, but with another dub.what would my strategy be?
that’s how the day was spent.

Haha All the scriptures that were meant for you, will now be used on Cheerful Earl to rid him of those uneasy thoughts.
And like Vivian Leigh in Gone With the Wind, the elder will advise that "Tomorrow is another Day" and smile.
But I imagine that Earl will keep in my mind several points. One being what you said about your Grandfather and all those religious salesmen. Another being how to view events in a different light. Those might rattle around in his brain for a long while.

What Type of Elder Body Did You Have?
by minimus ini was an elder in two different congregations and both were conservative and strict, especially congregation number one.
it was headed by a former branch servant as they were called back then.
all elders were by the book.

I found the elders in my congregation to be pretty normal. But then, I didn't get into trouble or go around much with them.
But there was this one elder who was an ex bethelite and was pretty hyper. He always seemed nice but was "extra" spiritual and made you feel pressured. At one time, he did the ministry school and I had a talk in the main hall. I hated writing talks and would do them over and over again. It was a real struggle to do it all and so I would often do the easiest settings. Well at that time, the WT made it even harder on the sisters by making a long list of settings that we HAD to use at least once before we could repeat.
Crappy no good jerks who never had to write a householders part too.I couldn't do anything other than the standard setting and I had done it before. So as I sit down at the table, he announces a totally different setting. It doesn't fit the talk. Afterwards he explains that I needed to use the other settings and so he took care of it for me.So the next time I gave a talk, I asked another elder if my talk was ok and explained what had happened before. He looked concerned. Next time the CO came, the elder was removed from being the ministry school overseer. Next meeting he humbly admits (in a uber dub way) that he was removed because he sat in the audience while a brother would give a talk, and hold up a sign saying "1 min to wrap up" "30 seconds" etc. He was policing everyone to make sure they followed the rules to a T.

I was with a nice but shy married brother. At one particular door, a teenager opens it and listens. The magazine had an article on how bad things were (surprise) and about terrorists in particular.
After the brother gives his presentation, the boy suddenly says, Well I'm a Terrorist. The brother was totally shocked but I just started laughing. So the boy just kept adding on to it and I kept laughing because I thought it was a creative way to get rid of us. The brother could only go on with his prepared speech. The dad appeared and said that they weren't interested.
The brother never said a word about it after.
The householder in this next story wasn't the shocking part.
This brother who always seemed good natured found a man outside on his driveway. The man didn't want us there and pointed out that the street was private to which the brother said it was public and he could stand on it. So the bro stood within an inch of the man's driveway and got into a heated discussion. Next thing I knew, they were doing chest bumps and swinging fists. I was shocked that this bro was fighting so I put my hands up and pleading with both "No violence Please" I said it several times. Finally they backed away. The police came and there were warnings given.
A fine witness indeed.

Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"
by stuckinarut2 init struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".
of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.
most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

From what I have observed from my mom - this world should have ended when she was younger and healthier. Now that she has health problems that most "worldly" people expect to happen at some point in their aging, she is shocked and terrified. This wasn't supposed to happen to her. When I go over to her house tho, I do hear about all the operations etc. that other witnesses have had...

Haha weird indeed. If you had been an active JW, you might have thought "God has sent them to me to give a witness" Maybe Karma has sent the man and his daughter to you.
It would be a strange thing if ex Jw's published their own "sent by Karma" accounts. Unlike how the organization published their made up sent by god, flying book hit suicidal person who studied stories.

The latest Study Watchtower out now - December 2017
by The Fall Guy in“if you were asked, ‘what are the key teachings of your faith?’ what would you say?....

IF YOU were asked what was the key teachings of your faith? A JW would say "Wait, let me watch the latest broadcast and I'll get back to you"

Cart witnessing in the quietest in my suburb.
by fulltimestudent ini walked to the station yesterday to meet a friend, and on the way, in what must be the quietest street in the entire suburb, were two j.witnesses and their little cart, all set with a literature display.
i wondered what point there may have been to choose that location.
i felt like grabbing one of their bibles and reading matthew 5:15 to them:.

The only cart I've seen, was in San Francisco. They were right in the middle of tourists, beaming with big smiles. These were not the shrinking violets that most everyone has been talking about. I think the Brother was enjoying the attention cause he actively engaged people.
So there is always a rogue JW willing to go the extra "smile" despite what the guidelines are. Unless of course, the powers above decided that San Fran was a great place to actively barker their wares.

Help Finding Poster's Challenge
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho inhey guys,.
i've been trying hard to locate a comment that was posted no longer than a few weeks ago (if that) by a poster providing a challenge for witnesses to find one scripture that states that we are still saved/have hope if we are outside of this "new covenant" that wt claims is for the 144,000 only.
the thread was to do with ways we can wake up a loved one and this particular poster (i can't remember who) gave a step-by-step guide to helping witnesses waking up using their own bible and doctrine.

Well I think I found your post. But I can't cut and paste it. But maybe it isn't since it is old.
It's from a poster named Terry from 4 years ago. The title is "An open Challenge to active JW's"
Hahaha I'm crazy but I think this is the last try for me.
